Kientzheim Liberation Monument

The monument is located to the right of the M4 Sherman tank and French 5th DB monument. It is in the middle of the 3 flag poles.
Monument
The monument is a 1.5 meter tall boulder that displays a plexiglass plaque with blue background and white text screwed onto the front. The plaque has an American flag at the top, as well as the insignias for the Texas Division, the Rock of the Marne, and the Keystone division underneath the flag.
In the Battle of the Colmar Pocket, beginning on December 15th, 1944, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Division, or "The Rock of the Marne," linked up with the French 1st Army and led the the assault of the Colmar Pocket in order to drive the rest of the Germans back across the Rhine. On December 17, the 36th U.S. Infantry Division, with the support of the 5th French Armored Division, attacked the German fortress town of Kientzheim and liberated the people of the town within an hour.
This monument honors the soldiers of these infantry divisions who gave their lives liberating the town of Kientzheim.
