Monument Text:

  IN MEMORIAM
Second Battalion
22nd United States Infantry Regiment Fourth Infantry Division

On the morning of December 18, 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas A. Kenan,
Battalion Commander, arrived at this site to establish the command post,
and to take over the defense of the Osweiler-Dickweiler sector from the
hard-pressed 12th United States Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

Despite being seriously understrength and committed suddenly to
action without prior reconnaissance, the Second Battalion distinguished
itself by breaking through to Osweiler, counterattacking, blocking the
enemy's determined drive in strength toward Luxembourg City,
and holding firm the area until being relieved on January 5, 1945

This memorial plaque honors the valor of the officers and men of the
Second Battalion, 22nd United States Infantry Regiment, who fought
and died for Freedom during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
