The monument is an obelisk, which is the centerpiece of the garden. The obelisk is situated directly in between two flagpoles.
Monument
The monument is a black granite obelisk with a golden English script. The monument is dedicated to the the 369th Infantry Regiment of the 93rd Division, (which was the 15th New York National Guard Regiment) during WWI. The 369th Infantry Infantry represented New York City and was known as the "Harlem Hellfighters." The 369th Infantry Regiment was a segregated regiment. Its soldiers were fought among the French Divisions. The soldiers of this unit were issued French rations and equipment.
