En ce lieu, s'est ecrasee le 27 Mai 1944, la forteresse volante B-17 "Sweater Out" (8e US Air Force - 457e Groupe de Bombardement) abattu par la chasse allemande Les aviateurs Artie J. Whitlow et Paul R. Isker ont trouve la mort lors de ce "crash" James V. Ambrose, Paul R. Clark, Robert H. Cunningham, Daniel G. McLaughlin, Lovell O'Masters, Robert V. Towle ont ete fait prisonniers de guerre ("POW") Roe S. Woodis a pu s'echapper par la Suisse et rejoindre sa base en Grande Bretagne ****** Afin que perdure eternellement en notre memoire le souvenir de ces vaillants aviateurs americains du 457e groupe de bombardement qui, durant la 2e guerre mondiale, donnerent leur vie afin de preserver la Liberte." english translation: On May 27th 1944 the flying fortress "Sweater Out" crashed here shot down by German fighters (457th Bomb Group 8th US Air Force) Artie J. Whitlow and Paul R. Isker died in the crash; James V. Ambrose, Paul R. Clark, Robert H. Cunningham, Daniel G. McLaughlin, Lovell O'Masters, and Robert V. Towle were taken prisoner; Roe S. Woodis managed to escape back to the UK via Switzerland. ****** May our memory of these brave US aviators of 457th Bomb Group who gave their lives for our freedom last forever.
