In the Square Denis Fontes on the S side of the Avenue Lazare Carnot N the tourism office. Monument A grey stone monument with an inscription and bronze plaque commemorating the Allied forces who died for the liberation of the town in WWII.

Monument Text:

Inscription: C'est ici que le 16 Aout 1944, a 22 heures 30, le 551e battalion de parachutistes de l'armee americaine prit contact avec la Resistance Dragenoise et avec elle, libera la ville.

english translation: It was here that the 551st US paratroop regiment linked up with the local Resistance at 2230 on August 16th 1944 to liberate the town.

This plaque was inaugurated on August 16th 2000 by Colonel Doug Dillard, Joseph Cicchinelli, and Thomas Foran who participated in the operation with 9000 men and by Mr Christian Martin Regional Counselor and Mayor of Draguignan
