When George Milton Simmons was born on March 14, 1897, his father, George, was 28 and his mother, Viola, was 26. He had four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company H, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Alexandria National Cemetery, Pineville, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, USA. His headstone shows he is a Private. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Simons.
