When Perry Franklin Griffin was born on September 24, 1899, his father, William, was 36 and his mother, Almeda, was 26. He had three brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company I, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1918 in France at the age of 18 and is now buried in Sulphur Springs City Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas, USA. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Griffen.
