When John C. Beisswanger was born in December 1897 in Reading, Pennsylvania, his father, John, was 29 and his mother, Kate, was 26. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company E, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 (at the age of 20) and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as J E BIESWANGER.
