Lars Paul Peterson was born on December 3, 1898, in Mayville, North Dakota, the son of Christina and Jonas. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company L, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 (at the age of 19) and is now buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, Ward County, North Dakota, USA.
