When George Luebker was born on August 17, 1887, in Indiana, his father, Edward, was 47 and his mother, Eliza, was 42. He had four brothers and one sister.He was a former employee of Advance Rumley Company before entering the service on September 20, 1917 in Laporte, Ind. He was sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. and later transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company A, 162nd Infantry. He embarked for overseas on June 11, 1918; attached to 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1918 (at the age of 30) in Picardie, France and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His first name's initial is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as J and as a Private.
