When Calvin George was born on December 24, 1890, in Macon, Georgia, his father, Emerson, was 25 and his mother, Amelia, was 25. He had one brother and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Second Lieutenant in Company E, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 18, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
