When Guy W. Fant was born on June 6, 1896, his father, George, was 27 and his mother, Mary, was 22. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 (at the age of 23) in France and is now buried in Lanier Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Lanier, Cass County, Texas, USA.
