When Edward Zurcher Sousley was born on September 24, 1895, in North Liberty, Indiana, his father, Benjamin, was 42 and his mother, Anna, was 34. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Soustey.
