When Samuel Wesley Britton was born in July 1894 in Preston, West Virginia, his father, George, was 22 and his mother, Sarah, was 23. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company H, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 (at the age of 23) in France and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
