When Ralph L Rickerd was born in September 1885 in Wisconsin, his father, George, was 40 and his mother, Sophia, was 32. He had three siblings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company I, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as R M RICKAHD.
