When Cecil Edward Morton was born on August 27, 1926, in Stanly, North Carolina, his father, Homer, was 25 and his mother, Croner, was 28. He had three brothers and two sisters. Heserved in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in HQ 2 Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on December 21, 1944 (at the age of 18) in Belgium and is now buried in Poplin Grove Cemetery, Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina, USA.
