When Elroy Green was born on May 14, 1892, his father, Overton, was 13 and his mother, Annie, was 8. Originally in the 359th Infantry, he was transferred to the 1st Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He completed his training in San Antonio. Green would have been killed somewhere along the railroad, about a mile southwest of Noyant-et-Aconin, France on July 20, 1918. He is now buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler, Smith County, Texas, USA.
