When Clarence LeRoy Kupp was born on August 22, 1892, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, his father, Charles, was 21 and his mother, Olivia, was 19. He had two brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Mess Sergeant in Company C, 1st Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Aisne-Marne American Cem., Belleau, France. A memorial plaque built for him can be found in Edgewood Cemetery, Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA.
