When Neal Langford was born on March 31, 1899, in Florida, his father, John, was 28 and his mother, Alice, was 22. He had two brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company D, 3rd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 (at the age of 19) and is now buried in Dekle Cemetery, Lake Butler, Union County, Florida, USA. His headstone shows that he a Private First Class.
