Fred S. Jainett was born in May 1871 in Waterloo, Waterloo Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada. He entered the military service in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army during Wolrd War I as a Private First Class in Company I, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was declared "Missing in Action" on July 18, 1918 and is commemorated on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument and ranked as a Private.
