George Beal was born on April 1, 1901 in Austria. He was the son of John and Mary Beal and came to the US in 1906. He entered the military service in Missouri and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company G, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument.
