Arling C. Van Bibber was born on July 7, 1893 in Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois. He entered the military service in Montana and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 8, 1918 (at the age of 25) in Lorraine, France and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. He also has a cenotaph in Saint John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois, USA.
