Sherman Ripperdan was born on June 30, 1891. He was the son of John and Susan Ripperdan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company G, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 10, 1918 and is now buried in Adkin Cemetery, Omaha, Gallatin County, Illinois, USA. His name is listed on the First Infantry Division monument in Buzancy, France but surname is inscribed as Ripperdon.
