Robert Oscar Baughn was born in April 1888 in Calhoun, McLean County, Kentucky. He was the son of Samuel Claiborne Baughn & Martha Francis Riggs. He enlisted in the Army on December 9, 1912 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a First Sergeant in Company G, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 4, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
