When Leo G. Leggins was born on July 7, 1900, in Kewanee, Illinois, his father, Michael, was 32 and his mother, Mary, was 18. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company L, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 4, 1918 (at the age of 18) in France and is now buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois, USA.
