When Ira Vincent Spigelmire was born on May 24, 1894, in Creston, Ohio, his father, Henry, was 34 and his mother, Cordella, was 23. He had four brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company M, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 11, 1918 (at the age of 24) and is now buried in Wooster Cemetery, Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio, USA.
