When Richard Blue Earth was born on October 30, 1893, in Cannon Ball, North Dakota, his mother, Lucy, was 30. He had one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company A, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 11, 1918 by machine gun fire (at the age of 24) and is now buried in Saint Elizabeths Catholic Cemetery, Cannon Ball, Sioux County, North Dakota, USA.
