Charles V. Magsig was born in Olive township on April 28, 1892. His entire life was spent in Olive and Dewitt until he went to Camp Custer. He was member of the M. E. church. He left home for Camp Custer on April 26, 1918, with the 85th Division, Co. C, 338th Infantry. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on October 9, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. He also has a cenotaph in DeWitt City Cemetery, DeWitt, Clinton County, Michigan, USA.
