He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 9, 1918 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery, Ida, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, USA.
