When Emil Arthur Jacob and his twin brother Emil A. were born on February 13, 1895, in Deerfield, Michigan, their father, Charles, was 28, and their mother, Wilhelmina, was 20. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Emil died at the battle of Meuse-Argonne, France. He was originally buried at the American Military Cemetery there. His remains were returned to Manchester in Oct of 1921 and he was buried with full Military Honors on 23 Oct 1921. He is now buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Manchester, Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA.
