George D. Whitish was born on January 14, 1894 in Fennimore, Grant County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Samuel R. and Eunice Kennison Whitish. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 5, 1918 (at the age of 24) in France and is now buried in Ebenezer Cemetery, Annaton, Grant County, Wisconsin, USA.
