When Remy August Depril was born on April 21, 1889, in Charleroi, Hainaut, Belgium, his father, Alexander, was 21 and his mother, Sylvia, was 19. He had one son with Juliette Mathilda "Julia" Castiaux (Costiaux) in 1910. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company I, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died of disease or other cause on October 6, 1918 (at the age of 29) and is now buried in Hosey Hill Cemetery, Weir, Cherokee County, Kansas, USA.
