When John Sabol was born on June 21, 1895, in Pennsylvania, his father, John, was 28 and his mother, Anna, was 19. He had five brothers. He entered the military service in Maine and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 7, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
