Albert Cohen, Jr. was born on November 3, 1903. At the time of his enlistment, he was thirteen years and six months old. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company H, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in battle on October 5, 1918. He was the youngest soldier to be killed in action in France. He is now buried in Temple Israel Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Cohn.
