When Royal Philip Steinbacher was born on October 21, 1892, his father, Sylvester, was 30 and his mother, Anna, was 31. He had three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company L, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 9, 1918 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, USA.
