Earl L. Walsh was born in 1895. He was 23 years of age when he entered Camp Custer on May 27, 1918 for training. In July 1918 he accompanied the 85th Divison overseas and following his arrival was transferred to Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division as a Private. He was Killed in Action on October 6, 1918 in Argonne, France and is now buried in Woodland Cemetery, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Walshe.
