Bina C. Stewart was born in May 1894 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. He entered the military service in Ohio and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Battery F, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on November 3, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Steward.
