When Fredrick C. Lookabill was born on January 21, 1893, in Davidson, North Carolina, his father, Alfred, was 28 and his mother, Lorena, was 26. He had four brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Battery D, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on November 1, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
