When Lloyd W. Gower was born in May 1896, his father, George, was 22 and his mother, Serena, was 19. He had five brothers and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 6, 1918 in Lorraine, France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Cooper Hill Cemetery, Newnata, Stone County, Arkansas, USA.
