Alfred Gagnon was born on January 27, 1885 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. He was the son of Napoleon Gagnon and Olive Dubois Gagnon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 5, 1918 in France at the age of 33 and is now buried in Saint Bernards Cemetery, Fitchburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
