Henry W. Steuber was born on November 16, 1891 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of William and Emelia Steuber. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company C, 3rd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on October 5, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
