When Floyd Christian Hoover was born on August 19, 1890, his father, Christian, was 70 and his mother, Esther, was 31. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Cook in Ambulance Company No. 3, 1st Sanitary Trains, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 1, 1918 in Champagne-Ardenne, France and is now buried in Deepwood Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but listed in the Ambulance Company No. 13.
