When Roy Dayton Leach was born on August 9, 1886, in Burton City, Ohio, his father, Moses, was 36 and his mother, Lucy, was 29. He married Lelia May Allshouse on June 4, 1917, in Monroe, Michigan. They had one child during their marriage. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in 1st Military Police Company, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 3, 1918 in France at the age of 32 and is now buried in South Newbury Cemetery, Newbury Center, Geauga County, Ohio, USA.
