When James J. Regnery was born on July 12, 1892, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, his father, Andrew, was 28 and his mother, Mathilda, was 25. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on February 19, 1918 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
