Vernon W. Saylor was born on October 29, 1896 in Maysville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 168th Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 22, 1918 in St. Mihiel, France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, USA.
