When Sidney Montgomery was born on June 10, 1890, in Clay, South Dakota, his father, Joseph, was 39 and his mother, Minnie, was 23. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company A, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle n 1918 and is now buried in Riverside Cemetery, Albany, Linn County, Oregon, USA.
