Leland W. “Lee” Rathbun was born on September 19, 1890. He was the son of William and Fannie Rathbun. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company A, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 4, 1918 and is now buried in Glendale Cemetery, Akron, Summit County, Ohio, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in St. Juvin, France but his surname is inscribed as Rathburn and ranked as a Private.
