When Edward H. Haas was born on August 5, 1895, in Cincinnati, Ohio, his father, John, was 43 and his mother, Mary, was 32. He married Lauretta R Haas Fox on April 8, 1914, in his hometown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Machine Gun Company, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 6, 1918 at Argonne Forest, France and is now buried in Saint Mary Cemetery, Saint Bernard, Hamilton County, Ohio, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in St. Juvin, France but listed in Medical Detachment his unit.
