When Edward Henry Spinniken was born on October 6, 1891, in Leelanau, Michigan, his father, Mathew, was 32 and his mother, Adelheit, was 25. He had one brother and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Bugler in Company L, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action in 1918 in France and is now buried in East Leland Cemetery, Leland, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA.
