Wellington G. Sahler was born on March 7, 1896, in West Brandywine, Pennsylvania, the son of Rachel and Isaac. He attended Girard College until he was 19 yrs old, he worked in the drafting department of the Lukens Steel Co. Wellington enlisted in the Army in May 1917, in the U.S. Engineers Corps, and sailed for France July 1917. He was killed in action in France on Oct 10, 1918 as a Corporal at the age of 22. He is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. The Sahler-Sedan VFW post 287 in Coatesville, PA is named after him.
